Will Elon Musk Build A New Social Media Platform ?

Elon Musk recently announced on twitter that he is planning to build a new social media platform as Twitter fails to follow the fundamental rules of Democracy.

On Saturday, responding to a twitter user, Elon Musk said that he is ‘giving serious thought’ on whether he should build a new social media platform. He also accused twitter of undermining democracy and failing to adhere to free speech principles.

Musk said “Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy,”. He asked his followers ‘What should be done’ about this and is there a new platform needed?

Previously Musk said that “free speech is essential to a functioning democracy,” and then he put out a poll on twitter asking his followers “Do you believe twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?”

He also warned that “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully,”. More than 70% of the respondent voted no.
