Photographer Captures A Magical, Rare Baby White Reindeer In Stunning Photos

A Christmas miracle? We think so. A Norwegian photographer spotted a rare sight while he was hiking with friends. He captured a beautiful photograph of a white reindeer calf in the mountains of northern Norway. Mads Nordsveen, 24, from Oslo, captured the magnificent creature that seemed to almost blend in and disappear against the white snow. According to the BBC, he said, "He came to me very close and we looked into each other's eyes. He was very calm when he saw that I did not have bad intentions. He behaved as if he was posing for my photos... he was very curious and funny, like a little explorer."
The photographer shared his photos on his Instagram page of the beautiful animal and said that "He almost disappeared into the snow!" Nordsveen described the encounter as "very magical" and a "fairytale moment". And who can deny that? According to  Scandinavian traditions, spotting a white reindeer is considered a sign of good luck. Soon after posing for the photographers the reindeer slipped away a few moments later to reunite with his mother at the edge of the forest.
White reindeer are extremely rare to find. In 2016, a white stag was reported in Mala, Sweden, the New York Daily News reported. One may think that the color of the creature is a result of albinism but it is not. The fairylike appearance is actually caused by a genetic condition that saps the pigment from their fur. Users online were quick to share their awe at the beautiful photographs of the creature. One user tweetedAs in a fanciful Christmas tale, an extremely rare white reindeer baby was recently seen in Oslo, Norway, by photographer Mads Nordsveen. Simply enchanting.
Other users even began sharing pictures of other white reindeer. User Christie Golden shared: White reindeer are very special to me, I had white reindeer with golden horns in my novel "In Stone's Clasp." You could weave magic from their fur, and they were much more than they appeared to be.
And it's not just reindeer. There are moose too that are white in color! One user even shared a video of a white moose casually crossing the road. He tweeted: I had a white elephant, a white reindeer and now, white moose. Take your time, buddy.

So if white creatures ARE really signs of good luck, we wish you the very best of it with these magical photographs! Looks like Christmas miracles do exist!
